Thinking of Adopting? Get The Inside Scoop At This Free Peer-To-Peer Event.

On behalf of the local lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified, queer, inter-sex, two-spirited, and questioning (LGBTQI2Q) community, their allies and the Belleville Pride Planning committee, we invite you to join us on April 26, 2018 for Belleville’s Pride Thinking of Adopting Event.

Join us at Cafe E for an evening of discussion with parents and children who became a family through adoption. Hear their experiences, and ask questions to help you on your own journey.

Hear From Adoptive Parents and Adoptees

Our panel of adoptive parents will share stories about growing their families through adoption. They will give you the good, the bad, and the entirely unexpected.

Malika and Kristi Ann will share their adoption stories, and what they think individuals hoping to adopt should know.

Panelists

Public Adoption: Jeff and his partner started their family by adopting a baby, who was nine days old when they got him. They welcomed their second son one year and one day to the date of their first adoption. Both adoptions were through the Children’s Aid Society.

Private/International Adoption: Lisa and her partner travelled to China to pick up their 18 month old daughter, who is now nine years-old. She will provide insight on what it is like to go overseas to grow your family.

Kin Adoption: Jamie and Malika are a mother/daughter dynamic duo. While already raising two girls, Jamie stepped up when her brother passed away suddenly. Malika, now in her last year of high school, has mainly known Jamie as her mom. The two will share bits and pieces of their journey.

Private Adoption: Now raising her own family, Kristi Ann will reflect on her experience.
